What makes us special?
Blue Bay Travel developed a homeworking arm, Personal Travel Consultants, in 2020, and has grown to around 50 homeworkers. We’re fortunate to have seen our homeworker develop into multi-million pound business owners over that time, supported by the ability to dynamically package, including with BBT's own contracted product, access to BBT leads to support with business growth, and instant earning potential with 50% commission paid upfront. We don’t offer ‘new to travel’ programs generally, however our offering of upfront earning and BBT leads, to name a few of our USPs, enables prospective ‘new to homeworking’ agents to earn while growing their businesses, which is a pattern we have seen form over decades.
Business model
Personal Travel Consultants (PTCs), in partnership with Blue Bay Travel, offer a flexible homeworking opportunity for travel professionals looking to run their own business with the support of an established tour operator. Combining entrepreneurial freedom with access to industry-leading products, systems, and commercial backing, PTCs can build and grow their own customer base while delivering tailor-made holidays across a wide range of destinations, as well as access to 350 suppliers with market-leading commercial terms. All homeworkers act as consultants to Blue Bay Travel. PTCs can use their own branding, or use Personal Travel Consultants branding. All PTCs are provided with a landing page featuring their personal call to actions, as well as an online bookable website, all free of charge. All PTCs self generated customers are their own data. (PTCs can have access to Blue Bay Travel leads, where the data ownership remains with Blue Bay Travel.) All PTCs receive admin and operational support as standard, meaning all confirmations, tickets, invoicing and admin post sale can be handled at HQ. PTCs receive training with a dedicated training coordinator, and business development support with their business development manager.

Costs
No joining fee. Monthly fee of £99 per month, or 0.29% of sales revenue (whichever is greater). No credit/debit card fees. Laptop/equipment can be purchased upfront, or hired monthly
Commission structure
Blue Bay Leads readily available - 20% commission share. Self generated leads from PTC own database 65%. 50% commission paid on the month after booking, remaining 50% commission paid 6 weeks ahead of client traveling. Commission is still paid if the PTC ends their contract, all commission will be paid upon the last booking traveling successfully and bookings were made & administered in good faith.
Licences and memberships
Blue Bay Travel is a consortium member of the Coop Travel Services LTD, which is the Atol holder and an accredited body of the CAA, and Blue Bay Travel holds its own Abta number. Agents have the facility to dynamical package, either with bed banks or via Blue Bay Travel’s product offering in the Caribbean, Indian Ocean & Far East.
Training and support
All new PTCs start with a virtual training programme led by our dedicated Training Coordinator, who supports them through those important first few weeks. The first few days are all about getting up to speed with booking processes, understanding BBT leads (if needed), and getting some solid business development support from our Business Development Manager. We also share social media ideas and opportunities, quick wins to get started, and help get things like business cards or leaflets sorted if required.
We also run a weekly (optional) conference call for all PTCs, which most people join when they can. It’s a good chance to hear the latest updates—things like commercial news, incentives, how the business is trading, and what’s happening in the market. We often invite suppliers along too for short 30-minute training sessions, which tend to be really popular.
On top of that, we host a monthly ‘chit chat’ call that’s completely non-work related—more of a chance to relax, have a catch-up, and get involved in quizzes or games.

Sustainability & DEI
For every booking made, our business plants a tree through Ecologi, with all clients also given the option to contribute to the scheme if they wish. We provide all consultants with an itemised list of sustainable suppliers, along with training and ongoing support. Interest in sustainable travel continues to grow amongst both our homeworkers and our customers, so this has become an increasingly important area for the business. Blue Bay Travel also proudly supports colleagues with fundraising and sponsorship for local charities, while encouraging and supporting consultants in their own personal fundraising efforts too.
Technology
BBT has its own in-house, purpose-built CRM, making it easy to manage quotes and bookings, alongside full bookability through iSell. All PTCs are provided with a business laptop and a softphone, giving them their own direct, recorded phone line. They also get a personalised landing page, which includes their details, social media links, and the option for customers to book online. It’s completely optional, but there’s no extra cost if they choose to use it.
