Reports said that Kent-based Sunspot, which is owned by the Bugeja family, has appointed corporate finance specialist Catalyst to examine “strategic options” including selling a stake in the operator.
As well as offering holidays to Malta, Sunspot sells a range of destinations across the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Indian Ocean, Middle East and Asia.
The business, which has been operating for more than 35 years, also trades under the name Mercury Holidays and owns a handling agency in Malta.
Sunspot made an operating profit of £3.5 million with turnover of £65.9 million during the financial year up to November 30, 2016, according to documents filed at Companies House.
