It was revealed, ahead of the tour operator’s centenary celebrations in June, that Collette was planning to breathe new life into Explorations.
New tours at launch include Colours of Morocco, Taste of Vietnam, Mysteries of India and The Plains of Africa.
Its offering though will fan out across six continents, Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Europe, North America and South America.
Explorations will focus on active, hyper-local experiences featuring accommodation and culinary options commensurate with the culture and tradition of individual destinations.
Collette says groups will be limited to 19 people and will likely average around 15 travellers per tour, with the aim of taking guests “beyond the surface of destinations”.
Dan Sullivan, Collette chief executive, said: “Over the last 100 years, we’ve learned a lot about what works on tour and we’re excited to add this breadth of product to Collette’s offerings.
“Whether it’s sipping coffee in a cafe dedicated to empowering young women on Mysteries of India, snorkelling with sea turtles or spotting colourful finches on Machu Picchu and The Galapagos Islands, or an overnight in a glass igloo northern Finland, our guests can now connect to destinations in an entirely different way.”
