The Caribbean nation saw arrivals grow for the third consecutive month in November with 14,232 tourists visiting, 17% more than pre-pandemic levels.
September and October brought increases of 11% and 6% over Grenada’s 2019 figures, while December 2022 is projected to surpass the destination’s previous high in December 2019.
The final quarter of 2022 saw the return of all international air capacity into Grenada, including the expansion of British Airways’ schedule from Gatwick, which now features a third flight.
Air Canada now operates a twice-weekly service, Sunwing flies every Sunday from Toronto, while Condor has also returned with a direct weekly service from Frankfurt and Caribbean Airlines now provides a daily service from Trinidad and Tobago.
Petra Roach, chief executive of the Grenada Tourism Authority, said the country used the pandemic to put in place “a lot of groundwork” by engaging with new PR representation in North America and the UK and strengthened its overseas sales teams.
“Our digital footprint has expanded significantly which has given us a much more cost-effective marketing reach,” said Roach. “A lot of time was prioritised for deepening the relationships with our distribution channels in the marketplace, such as our travel agent and tour operator partners, to better understand how their businesses align with our product.
“We continue to build our brand equity so that travellers keep Grenada in their consideration of destinations they want to visit. We are laser focused on attracting visitors who want to take advantage of our safe environment, numerous community initiatives and who want to get out and about,” she added.
