We didn’t prompt the celebrity host at this week’s TTG Travel Awards to say it, but comedian John Bishop summed up the essence of the night brilliantly in his parting speech.
In order to earn their place at Monday night’s ceremony, every finalist had already demonstrated that they were one of the best in their field at making customers’ travel dreams come true.
We’d have given a trophy to every single finalist if we could, but after thousands of travel agent ratings were submitted, and after hours of deliberating by our judging panels, we had to decide upon only 30 winning agents and suppliers who’d ultimately take home a hallowed TTG on the night.
It was certainly a dream night for Celebrity Cruises, which claimed not just the Luxury/Specialist Cruise Line of the Year award and LGBT-Friendly Supplier of the Year award, but also the biggest accolade of all, for Travel Company of the Year.
A dream night too for If Only and Holiday Extras, who both took home two trophies, and for Moira Lumsden, the amazingly successful consultant from Thomas Cook’s Dundee City Square branch, who was crowned Top Agent of the Year across all eight agent categories.
It was a huge privilege for us to be able to shine a spotlight on the very best businesses and people in travel, in such an inspiring venue as a West End stage, and to be able to celebrate alongside so many industry colleagues and friends.
And particular thanks to our headline sponsor Saga, and to every single travel agent, organisation and supplier who entered, rated, judged, attended and sponsored the TTG Travel Awards 2016.
Together - a dream team!
