Now in its second year, the awards – which were launched on the back of the TTG LGBT+ initiative – celebrate industry members championing diversity and inclusion within their businesses and with customers.
Nine individuals were shortlisted for the accolades with TTG editor and TTG LGBT+ founder Sophie Griffiths joined by Travel Pride headline partner the Italian National Tourist Board for judging.
Stig Williams, head of international travel and partnerships, Avis Budget Group; Lucie Preece, commercial manager, Disney Destinations International and Steven Jackson-Hunt, trading executive at Tui, were announced as Travel Pride Champions for 2021 on Thursday (2 December) during the event held at The Gable in Moorgate.
Judges said Williams had been chosen for his LGBT activism from a young age and his spearheading of global projects at Avis and creating unconscious bias training across the business.
Preece impressed in the way she had led a taskforce of 25 employees to ensure diversity and inclusion is fully considered in everything that goes on at Disney Destinations International.
Jackson-Hunt, who is part of the leadership team in Tui’s LGBTQ Employee Network, was awarded for the way he had come up for with many ideas for new inclusivity initiatives in the business.
