Airline authorities have cut the amount of time aircraft with those engines can be away from an airport.
“We have gone out in the market and wet-leased aircraft operating some of our UK routes because aircraft are grounded,” Norwegian Air senior vice-president of sales and distribution Lars Sande told TTG.
“Hopefully this won’t cost us money. “If you buy an aircraft and there’s something wrong with the engine after six months... it’s not our fault. We’ve more or less said this is something Boeing and Rolls-Royce need to fix.
“While in our mind this is not going to cost us anything, of course we need to wet-lease aircraft to bring people to their destination.
“There’s going to be an impact [on the sector overall] because there aren’t enough wet-leases to get out there,” added Sande.
