Playa Hotels & Resorts has taken over the management of the Dominican Republic’s Sanctuary Cap Cana resort.
Playa will re-launch the former AlSol branded-property whilst looking after all operations, sales and marketing.
Sanctuary Cap Cana marks the brand’s first addition since Playa became a public company in March this year.
Bruce Wardinski, Playa Hotels and Resorts’ chairman and chief executive said: “We continue to execute our strategic plan and we see the Sanctuary brand as another opportunity to grow in the luxury all-inclusive sector.”
Following the acquisition of land in Cap Cana, the company has also begun construction on a 750-room Hyatt Zia and Hyatt Zilara all-inclusive complex, due to open in summer 2019.
Speaking to TTG at the 2017 Jamaica Travel Market, Peter Grace, sales and marketing representative at Bespoke Travel Marketing – the UK representatives for the company - said that Playa planned to expand its new Panama Jack retro all-inclusive brand.
“We will very likely roll it out into other destinations in the future including Jamaica and Dominican Republic,” he said.
