The OTA is the first dnata-owned brand to use trust accounts for new bookings – Travel Republic also offers Atol protection and Abta membership as part of its enhanced levels of consumer protection.
Travel Republic’s move means that when a customer books a flight-inclusive package holiday, the money for accommodation and transfers will be kept in a trust account and can be “promptly” refunded if their holiday has to be cancelled. Payment for flights will go straight to the airline “as per industry practice”.
Triple Lock Protection is part of Travel Republic’s Holiday Promise, which also includes Covid Cover Plus offering cancellation protection, as well as a price guarantee and 24/7 in-resort support for holidaymakers.
Antonio Fellino, managing director at Travel Republic, said: “Our unique Triple Lock Protection, included in our Holiday Promise, gives our customers real peace of mind when booking their holidays with us.
“Only recently, independent research commissioned by Abta showed choosing trusted brands and operators to be the most important factor for Brits when planning a holiday.
“We’re delighted to further strengthen the financial protection we can provide our customers, and be able to act quickly and flexibly to look after them should they be due a refund.”
