TTG Media has been exploring alternatives to the previously used LDPE (low-density polyethylene) plastic wrapping for some time, leading to a one-off paper wrap for the publication’s responsible tourism-themed issue in partnership with G Adventures last July.
The response from the industry was fantastic and encouraged TTG Media to seek a long-term sustainable solution.

Some of the potato starch in the Bioplast 300 material comes as a by-product of the potato chip and crisp manufacturing industry in Europe.
There are no plasticisers or toxins in the starch-based wrapper and, as a result, it is 100% biodegradable and fully compostable.
The potato starch wrap can be disposed of both in home composting bins or, where accepted by authorities, in food waste recycling or green bins.
Daniel Pearce, TTG Media CEO, said: “TTG Media is acutely aware of the global issues around single-use plastics, and we have been researching different methods of mailing out TTG and all our other magazines for months.
“We are delighted to be the first
in our sector to make this change, underlining TTG Media’s commitment to inspiring, informing and connecting the travel industry, not only comprehensively, but also as sustainably as we can.”
