The team of four female and four male rowers, plus a cox, took on a BA Cityflyer Embraer 190 aircraft in the contest at London City airport, next to the Royal Albert Docks.
The rowing team received a motivational speech by TV presenter Hammond ahead of the race, while Rylan provided the inspiration for the aircraft’s crew.

BA has raised £27.3 million through its Flying Start partnership with Comic Relief over the past 13 years. This year’s Red Nose Day festivities take place today (17 March).
