The new framework introduces two booking models that each materially increase commission in a bid to drive volume via the trade, with commission for group bookings of up to 17% now available compared with a previous range of 10-12%.
Meanwhile, non-allocated "live availability" groups now attract 14% commission and independent bookings 12%. In addition, early booking discounts – previously unavailable to committed groups – have been extended across all group categories through to the end of February 2027.
The line told TTG it estimates a typical group booking for 30 passengers, at an average fare of £7,500, would generate an additional £11,250 in commission for agents under the new structure (excluding the value of the complimentary place).
Amadeus has split the policy into two models: Group Pricing – Live Availability and Group Pricing – Protected Allocation. The former is aimed at retail agents and shops prioritising flexibility and individual sales, allowing bookings to be made dynamically via the company’s live pricing system without holding inventory.
The latter targets tour operators and group organisers requiring guaranteed capacity, offering protected allocations in exchange for a non-refundable deposit.
Both models include a "one free place per 21 sold" incentive; the mechanism can be deployed at the agent’s discretion, whether to host a tour leader, incentivise a group organiser, or convert into additional margin. The free berth is aligned to the most commonly booked cabin category within the group.
Minimum group size is set at 20 full fare-paying passengers, with the policy available across all sailings and itineraries.
Claire Webb, business development manager for the line's UK division, said: "Amadeus’ new group booking policy gives agents and group organisers a more rewarding and flexible way to grow their business, making group sales simpler, more commercially viable and ultimately more profitable for our trade partners."
The line is confident the revised model will translate into sustained growth. "Feedback so far has been excellent," the company noted, with expectations of a strong uplift in group business across the 2026/27 seasons.
