Coronavirus ‘not over yet’
The coronavirus pandemic is not over and cases among older people are increasing, an expert has warned. Dr Jenny Harries, chief executive of the UK Health Security Agency sounded the alarm after data showed an increasing number of people aged 55 and older have Covid. A national emergency will be declared in Australia after 22 people died in floods along the east coast. It is the first such declaration since a law was passed in December 2020 in response to catastrophic wildfires. Briton shot dead in Mexico resort
A British man has died after being shot in front of his teenage daughter in Playa del Carmen in an apparently targeted killing. Chris Cleave, 54, originally from Cornwall, was inside a car that was targeted. He had been working as an estate agent in nearby Cancun. (Sky News)
Former SeaWorld trainer says ‘don’t visit’
A former SeaWorld orca trainer has urged Brits not to visit any marine parks this summer. John Hargrove worked with orcas over 14 years as a trainer, first for SeaWorld and later at Marineland in France. He resigned and turned whistle blower in 2012. (The Mirror)
