Clayton-Turner takes up the post after Andrea Norris withdrew her candidacy due to the demands of a new role at AllClear.
Former chair Debbee Dale said Norris’s withdrawal was “a little unexpected”, but added: “We understand that this may not be the year for her to take the Chair position.”
Following the AWTE’s annual general meeting, Clayton-Turne, said: “I’m delighted to be taking over as chair.
"The association is in a really healthy position both in terms of member numbers, but also with a fantastic line up of events scheduled in for this year.
“We are looking to increase our global proposition in the next 12 months following the huge success of the Ireland chapter in Dublin earlier this month.”
Clayton-Turner had been running for the role of vice chair but agreed to step up following several years as a board member.
Holiday Extras’ Lindsay Garvey Jones, the other candidate for vice chair, was elected.
Other members on the new AWTE England board include Sarah Hanan; Dunleavy White (secretary); Sarah Johnson; Lotus UK, (finance director) and Deb Merrifield; Marketing Radar, membership director.
To mark the departure of Dale as chair, members and non-members are invited to attend the Chair’s Dinner on May 9 at Smith and Wollensky in John Adam Street, London. Tickets are available at awte.org.uk.
