The Unite union said the action regarded benefits not being reinstated for crew who had taken part in earlier industrial action, the BBC reported.

BA has insisted that the pay and rewards for its crew members are in line with competitors.

The airline has labelled the new strike as “completely unnecessary”, insisting that it will still fly all customers to their destinations.

A British Airways spokesperson said: “We had reached a deal on pay, which Unite’s national officers agreed was acceptable. We urge Unite to put the pay proposals to a vote of their members."

Members who work on the airline’s mixed-fleet agreements, represented by the Unite union, have staged 26 strike days over the course of the disagreement, the BBC added.

Unite said the new strikes had been called because BA had treated the staff who had participated in the earlier strike action unfairly, after failing to reinstate their travel concessions which offers them discounted travel on the carrier.
