The iconic 80s singer is set to sing hit power ballad, Total Eclipse of the Heart , for passengers during the exclusive concert on Oasis of the Seas’ outdoor AquaTheatre today.
Tyler will be supported by Joe Jonas’s band DNCE who were announced to be performing onboard last month.
Oasis of the Seas departed from Orlando, Florida yesterday, with the total eclipse set to occur this afternoon. The ship set sail on a seven-night Caribbean itinerary, calling at Phillipsburg, St. Maarten; Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas; and Nassau, the Bahamas.
Dubbed the Great American Eclipse, the moment will see the sun, the moon and the earth become perfectly aligned in a once-in-a-lifetime celestial spectacle seen from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean.
Tyler was described as a “natural choice for this once-in-a-lifetime moment" by Michael Bayley, president and chief executive of Royal Caribbean International.
Joe Jonas, the lead singer of DNCE, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be coming back onboard with Royal Caribbean to put on a lights-out performance with a very special guest. It’s beyond exciting to be able to celebrate this crazy moment in history out in the middle of the ocean.”
In addition to the live performances and viewing party, there will be eclipse-themed activities, trivia and interactive science entertainment for families.
