The passenger, who was reportedly holding a baby at the time, came to blows with the airport employee in front of a shocked crowd of passengers, who also had young children with them.
A police source told the media that both men had been caught on CCTV fighting. He added: “The passenger appears to be responsible for the first physical contact, but the matter is still under investigation.”
The Brit, who is understood to have been waiting for a flight to Luton, is now back in the UK but could be extradited, the Metro reported.
Online videos show him swearing loudly as he complains about the service at the airport.

He approaches the airport worker, who other passengers had accused of “smiling” about their ordeal, and tries to take a photo of him. However the airport worker knocks the phone out of his hand, and the passenger retaliates by slapping him around the head, the newspaper said. The worker then throws a punch.
EasyJet has insisted that the airport employee had no connection with the company.
It has also apologised for the delay, which it said was due to technical problems which led to the airline having to fly out a replacement plane.
