Turnover at the West Sussex-based firm rose by 1.9% to £63 million. Operating profit increased by 0.2% to £3.2 million, giving it a margin of 5%, according to accounts filed at Companies House.
Forward bookings for the current financial year are marginally ahead of 2014-15, the company said.
Like other tour operators Classic Collection has faced a number of challenges in recent years, including political unrest, terrorism and unpredictable weather, but rather than viewing them in a wholly negative light, the directors see opportunities.
The myriad issues “continue to work in Classic’s favour as customers recognise the operational capabilities and service benefits associated with booking through tour operators,” the company said.
Classic Collection offers holidays in the Mediterranean, North Africa and destinations such as Bermuda, Dubai and Barbados.
“Although some high street travel shops have ceased to trade, new UK agencies and homeworking agents continue to start trading, thus allowing classic to distribute via approximately 3,000 outlets,” the directors said.
Last year Classic Collection was named Best Luxury Tour Operator at the TTG Travel Awards.
The firm has been operating since 1988 and has been owned by current managing director Nick Munday since 2002.
“It just felt like a horrendous year. All credit to the guys here, we kept plugging away and had fantastic support from travel agents and hoteliers,” Munday told TTG.
He added: “And when we did the financial accounts we had the biggest turnover ever, the biggest number of passengers ever and pretty much the biggest profit ever.”
