Bath, the former managing director of Bath Travel, became involved in the climb following a reverse auction at this year’s ITT Conference.

Endacott, the chair of Teletext Holidays, was hoping to raise the profile of the endeavor at the event in Ras Al Khaimah by getting delegates to accept a nomination to climb or pay £500 to pass the trip onto someone else.

“At the time I had no idea what I was getting into and just how demanding a challenge it was going to be. I can honestly say I have never attempted anything as physically and mentally exhausting in my life," Bath said.

The team departed for Kilimanjaro on September 10 and after 6 days hard trekking, all made it to the 19,340 feet peak at 6.31am on Thursday the September 17.

“It was great that all of us made it to the peak together, despite °C temperatures and a final 9 hour, four thousand feet over-night climb," Endacott said.

Bath added: “Fortunately the drugs worked and kept away the worst of the altitude sickness within our group, but nine-hours climbing with less than 50% normal oxygen content was a real killer, with every step requiring a fresh breath.

“Teamwork and inspirational leadership from our brilliant local guides, was the key to conquering one of the worlds highest peaks for me."
