Shades Day, which is now in its second year, was launched with the aim of raising funds for the association, which is dedicated to providing British seaside breaks and day trips to struggling families.
The FHA has three key objectives: to increase the number of families that have access to holidays; to research and promote the value of holidays for families experiencing disadvantage; and to increase awareness of the scale and scope of the problem of lack of access to holidays.
Those wishing to take part in Shades Day can wear their sunglasses and share their photos across social media with a suggested text donation of £3.
The FHA said that it would be supporting would-be fundraisers with a pack containing games, stickers, posters, pens and a jumbo pair of shades.
It will also feature participating companies’ logos on its dedicated Shades Day page and will tweet all those who sign up.
New for this year is the Shades Day Fund, with the FHA revealing an aim to raise £35,000 – enough to replace 1 of the 16 caravans which it owns at seaside holiday parks in the UK.
Angie Watson, fundraising and communications manager, said: “We are so excited for the return of Shades Day, our national day, launched last year. What could be better than an excuse to have fun on a Friday in the office with your teams while knowing that it will help us to spread a little sunshine to thousands of children and their families.”
