The Four Seasons Hotel Tunis will be in the Gammarth district of capital Tunis and is being built with the help of Tunisian investment group the Mabrouk Group.
It will be the hotel operator’s first property in the country.
The 200-room property will feature 500 metres of beachfront while both Tunis’ business district and the ruins of Carthage will be close by.
Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts president and chief executive Allen Smith said: “Whenever we enter a new market, we look for opportunities like this that offer a winning combination of the best location in the destination and a strong partner.
“As a company with deep roots in Tunisia, it’s a great pleasure to unveil plans for a hotel of this calibre in Tunis.
“Four Seasons Hotel Tunis will build on the strengths and expertise of both of our companies – creating a world-class luxury hotel that is true to the destination.”
Facilities include rooms with terraces, swimming pools, gardens and a number of restaurants while there is also a marina nearby.
However, Tunisia remains out of bounds for Brits thanks to Foreign Office advice in the wake of 2015 attack in Sousse which saw 38 people killed.
