The flight, to Liberia in Costa Rica, had been delayed by a technical fault when the group became disruptive.
Police were called to the aircraft and the group, described by one passenger as “rowdy and abusive”, were ordered to disembark after the captain refused to fly with them onboard.
A further delay to the departure then ensued as their bags were retrieved from the hold and the flight eventually left three hours late.
Charges are unlikely to be brought as police said there was no evidence of criminal behaviour. The airline is also unlikely to make any claim against the group as they did not cause it to make an unscheduled landing.
Thomson said it operated a “zero tolerance policy” over disruptive behaviour.
