Homeworker Gail Beckford is hoping to open the doors of Gail’s Travel Shop to customers in Huddersfield within the next two weeks. It will be part of The Global Travel Group.
Beckford, who has worked across several agencies during her 17 years in the industry, told TTG the decision to find permanent premises came after she noticed increasing demand for her homeworker business.
“I was just getting too much business to work from home and it was clear that I would need my own shop to help expand,” Gail said. “I loved being a homeworker because of the personal service that you give to people and how you can chat with clients any time they need you and be there to offer help. That’s the approach I want to bring to the shop.”
After the store opens Beckford, who has also worked for Manchester airport during her travel career, willrun the business with the help of her mother Annette, while she sets about looking for more staff.
To celebrate the opening, Beckford will host a meet and greet event for both current customers through her homeworking and interested locals passing by on the high street.
Suppliers have also sent a raft of promotional materials to help Beckford boost her profile.
“The meet and greet is a nice way to say thank you to customers and introduce myself to the public,” she said. “The trade has been so supportive and loads of suppliers have sent me promotional material and deal vouchers, which has been a great help. Agents have also been wishing me good luck on Facebook.
“It’s so exciting to think that the store is almost ready to be opened as it’s been a lifelong dream. Knowing that my name’s going to be above the door is just amazing.”
