Chief executive Gary Lewis said the clarity of the conference’s theme, along with the strong mix of speakers, would help agents generate ideas for their businesses.
“The Inspire theme has been chosen carefully because we really recognise the time that members take to come and attend the event.
“We’ve also chosen our speakers very carefully to address, target and identify the decisions that members need to make both as individuals and as organisations to be able to make the right changes.”
Speakers at the event include rower and businesswoman Debra Searle, former British army officer Chris Moon and brand expert Hamish Taylor.
“This is not a technical conference – we’re not going to talk to members about Brexit or the economy or that type of stuff,” said Lewis.
Instead, he said, the conference was designed to help members both manage existing clients and attract new customers to their businesses.
“When we talk about the Inspire theme we’re talking about the independent travel market being incredibly unique in owning their existing customers,” he said.
Lewis also stressed that the subject of The Travel Network Group’s new ownership was unlikely to feature too heavily in the two-day conference.
The group was bought out by the management in January for an undisclosed sum.
“We’ve come through a journey where we’ve found the right people to drive the business forward, and driving this business forward is actually about driving customers through our members’ businesses,” he said.
The consortium’s last conference was held in Split in October 2014 and Lewis said that since then the group had enjoyed plenty of success.
“It’s been a phenomenal 18 months – not just in terms of high profile members joining us, but also with the consistent constant growth in all of our membership propositions.”
In October 2015, Barrhead joined Worldchoice, having decided to end its joint venture with Midcounties Co-operative Travel.
