TravelBird has released its report detailing some of the top summer holiday destinations of 300 of the world’s most popular players and ranked them based on distance travelled.
Ibiza received 41 visits from players, Los Angeles came in second place, with 23 visits, and other destinations such as New York, Dubai, Miami and Mykonos were also revealed to be popular among footballers.
TravelBird’s research also showed the distance each player had travelled, revealing some of the most-travelled of summer 2017.
Among the most-travelled was FC Barcelona centre-back Gerard Pique who ranked in at number one, totting up 29,163 miles, visiting six destinations this summer.
Other well-travelled footballers include Neymar da Silva Santas, Cesc Fabregas, Luca Marrone and Kevin De Bruyne.
To conduct the research, the travel specialist followed thousands of footballers across their social media accounts.
A database of players and destinations was also created, calculating the overall travel distance for all destinations found this summer.
