P&O Cruises has put the finishing touches to its new updated livery on Britannia, its newest ship
Photos from the Fincantieri Shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, show a striking new look on the bow, with a contemporary version of the Union Flag that P&O says is the world’s largest.
The flag design used 320 litres of red paint and 100 litres of blue. A further 160 litres went into the P&O Cruises logo in the centre.

Britannia will also have two distinctive blue funnels carrying an illuminated rising sun motif, which depicts the Oriental part of the Peninsular and Oriental (P&O) name on the company’s coat of arms.
As P&O Cruises refreshes its brand, the new livery will be rolled out across all eight ships in the fleet.
When working to full capacity, Britannia’s four engines will generate 62.4 Megawatts or 84,000 horsepower - equivalent to the power generated by 168 supercars - allowing it to cruise at a speed of 22 knots.
Britannia, the largest ship ever built for the British market, broke first-day records when it went on sale in March, despite a system glitch that left agents unable to make bookings for two hours.
The ship will be officially named in Southampton in March 2015.
