A Trailfinders employee is understood to be among the survivors, but a spokesperson for the company did not wish to comment.
Other travel firms based close to the tower – near Latimer Road Underground station – as well as those further afield, have been doing their bit to support the communities displaced and bereaved families.
As TTG went to press the death toll from the June 14 tragedy had risen to 79, but this figure was expected to increase.
Operator Audley Travel’s Kensington office stands just a few streets away from Grenfell Tower, leaving staff members particularly moved by the tragedy.
Mark Hanson, managing director UK & Ireland, told TTG: “Fortunately none of our employees were directly affected. Since opening our office in 2014, we have become part of this fantastic community; we see and know many of the people who live and work close by – something that has made this tragedy all the more personal.
“Many of our London team went to provide comfort and support to the community and the emergency services in the immediate aftermath. They responded magnificently; something I’m immensely proud of.”
The effort is ongoing, with more than 60 Audley Travel employees working as part of a rota. The operator has also made a donation.
Elsewhere, Shubhra Halliday, key accounts and commercial manager at Prestige Holidays, was one of the many who went down to one of the community centres in the area to help organise the hundreds of donations which were made.
Halliday, who previously lived near to the area, said the situation on the ground at Kensal Community Centre was “heartbreaking” and “very difficult to comprehend”.
She met with some of the victims, including a father who lost both of his children and was feeling lost on Father’s Day. “It seemed he wanted to be kept busy and part of a community. This was a complete stranger sobbing on my shoulder sharing his story,” said Halliday.
Kuoni’s High Street Kensington office donated £200 to the cause – which was doubled by the website biggive.org.uk – after the Kensington Business Forum appealed for help and donations.
The store closed 15 minutes early on Friday (June 16) evening when demonstrators tried to storm the neighbouring council offices over its handling of the disaster.
Elsewhere, Intrepid Travel raised more than £650 via a bake sale at its Brixton office and a raffle at its EMEA Company Day on Saturday.
