Chief executive Steve Heapy told the audience of more than 100 travel agents that the trade had been a huge part of the success of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, which will service more than 1.5 million customers this year, and has extended flights to Birmingham and Stansted airports.
“Travel agents are 32% of our business and that’s not going to change,” said Heapy. “We work very well with the trade and unlike some others we have no desire to reduce that number.”
The business has improved its trade website following feedback, and has invested in its call centre, guaranteeing that 100% of after-sales calls will be answered in three minutes.
Heapy was keen to underline the strength of the business following industry failures this year.
“We are a very, very financially stable company that you can have confidence in – we are strong and healthy,” he said.
“We will have more aircraft than Thomas Cook UK and Monarch combined by summer next year – we are a big, financially stable operator.”
The event is Jet2’s second trade conference in Paphos this week, following its conference for its new agent partners on Monday and Tuesday.
