Paul English, who was also chief technology officer at Kayak for around a decade before leaving in 2013, has now set up Lola which is set to launch a new travel app in early 2016 but has given few details about its plans so far.
US-based Lola is currently advertising on its website for travel consultants.
The advert reads: “We are building the future of excellent customer service and we need the right people on our team to deliver on this promise.
“You’ll be empowered to make decisions, and use your experience interacting with our customers to create the best travel service ever.”
Lola, which stands for longitude and latitude, was originally known as Blade Travel and plans to launch a consumer mobile app in the first three months of next year.
English has founded Lola with Bill O’Donnell, who also used to work for Kayak, and they want to “bring humans back into the equation” according to industry website Skift.
Lola is also building an app for agents that will include interfacing with global distribution systems (GDSs).
