Delegates at this week’s Advantage Conference will be invited to ponder the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) by former The Gadget Show presenter Jason Bradbury and his special guest.
The conference will carry the theme “Man & Machine”, and explore humans’ relationship with technology.
Fittingly, Bradbury, who co-hosted the technology-focused TV programme for over a decade, will be joined onstage on May 12 by Pepper – a metre-high robot – during his keynote speech, to demonstrate recent advances in AI.
Bradbury will explain to delegates that AI is, in his opinion, “hugely important… on a par with the splitting of the atom”.
The robot, versions of which are already being used to perform tasks in a number of customer-facing sectors, is said to be the first of its kind with the ability to recognise human emotions, as well as adapt its own behaviour.
“I’m really looking forward to everyone meeting Pepper,” Bradbury said. “Taking a robot away with you is quite bizarre if you think about it and is potentially a recipe for disaster – especially on stage. But it’s really exciting to be able to show the advances of that technology and what it can do.”
