Alan Frederick Roberts of Stowford Close, West Derby, is charged in connection with a spate of raids which occurred at agencies in Moreton, West Kirby, Crosby, Frodsham, Knutsford, Huddersfield and Staffordshire between July and September this year.
The 44-year-old, who appeared before Liverpool and Knowsley Magistrates’ Court, has been charged with six counts of robbery and one attempted robbery.
He was also charged with four counts of possession of an offensive weapon and one of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
During the raids, which targeted Co-operative Travel and Thomas Cook shops, Roberts reportedly carried a knife, although no members of staff were injured, The Liverpool Echo reports.
He was remanded in custody and will appear at Liverpool Crown Court on October 13.
