The line made the announcement today (November 15) during the vessel’s steel cutting ceremony.
MSC also marked the coin ceremony for the second of its Meraviglia-class ships, MSC Bellissima, during a pair of events the line said heralded “key building milestones” for two of its four new ships simultaneously under construction.
MSC Seaside and MSC Seaview are also currently being built as part of MSC’s €9 billion investment to build 11 new ships across 10 years.
MSC said its Meraviglia-Plus vessels will offer a “further evolution” of Meraviglia-class, which launched with MSC Meraviglia in June.
According to MSC, the Meraviglia-Plus-class will feature the “very first fine art museum at sea”, with a collection of classic and contemporary art onboard for guests to view.
The class will also boast original shows performed by Cirque du Soleil at Sea.
Pierfrancesco Vago, MSC executive chairman, said: “MSC Grandiosa is named to signify magnificence and grandeur, a fitting name for this even richer, ultra-modern mega-ship.
“Additionally, with MSC Grandiosa we also continue to innovate in product.
"Just as MSC Cruises ‘democratised’ the luxury cruise experience when we were the first cruise brand to introduce a ship-in-ship luxury concept - the MSC Yacht Club - we are now doing the same for art and culture with the very first fine art museum at sea.
“MSC Grandiosa will be the third of only four MSC Cruises ships to exclusively feature Cirque du Soleil at Sea, hosted in the uniquely complex, custom-built Carousel Lounge.”
Focusing on Bellissima, Antonio Paradiso, MSC Cruises managing director for the UK and Ireland said the line had seen “strong booking trends” for the vessel since opening bookings in May.
“Bellissima is a ship rich in onboard facilities and it is this choice and variety that is driving demand,” he added.
