It means that rather than inviting just agents on board, the line will be joined by around 500 travel partners and 2,500 of their own guests.
However Wilkinson said that following feedback from the launch of Getaway, there would be a number of changes to the launch of Escape.
“We listened to the consumers and travel agents that were onboard Getaway, who said that they wanted to experience the product and also be able to book it.
“So this time we have added booking desks, and less presentations so that customers can actually experience the ship and try the facilities,” he said.
Customers sailing on the Escape inaugural have paid £39, £59 or £79 for an inside, ocean or balcony cabin respectively.
However those that subsequently book a cruise with the line will have this cost refunded.
Wilkinson said a mixture of both large and small travel agencies had been invited to the UK launch. “We have a real cross-section of agents. It’s not just about the big partners,” he added.
He also revealed that Norwegian will be holding a series of webinars following the sailing from November 2, for both agents and their customers.
“We want to give agents the opportunity to invite their customers to learn about the ship and about the line.”
He added that he had a target of 5,000 customers that he was hoping to reach through the webinars.
“It’s open to any agent that wants to get involved with it. It’s about broadening our distribution and giving our agents the tools to put the product in front of the consumer.”
