Travel Definitions, which had an Atol but which was not a consumer brand, had only 8 passengers abroad and 250 forward bookings and the CAA said all suppliers had been paid. Both it and Railbookers, which remains in business, have been taken over by Yankee Leisure Group.
A Railbookers’ spokesperson said: “All forward bookings that were serviced by Travel Definitions are now serviced by the new company.”
Railbookers will be headed by Peter Traynor, previously with tour operator Collette; who joins as managing director. Railbookers, which specialises in tailor-made train itineraries, has worked with YLG since 2008.
YLG has supplied Railbookers’ US product and is also the national tour operator for Amtrak Vacations, the largest rail brand in North America. It also has the Yankee Holidays and Unique Rail Journeys brands in North America.
YLG president Frank Marini said he hoped to take Railbookers “to the next level”. YLG added that it was working closely with the CAA and Travel Trust Association to ensure customers were not affected by Travel Definitions’ collapse.
