Brian Moore, of The Paddocks, Westbury, Limerick “engaged in criminal behaviour of the worst kind”, a court was told, after he became abusive towards cabin crew during the service from Berlin to Shannon in February.
Inspector Tom Kennedy told the court, how Moore had “started to make his presence felt”, within 15 minutes of the aircraft departing
Moore later became abusive and told a female member of cabin crew to “f**k off” after attempting unsuccessfully to purchase food and drink with his credit card, The Irish Times reports.
Kennedy explained that Moore had become intoxicated after drinking from a shampoo bottle - filled with whiskey - which he had taken onto the flight.
Moore later pleaded guilty to being intoxicated onboard an aircraft; engaging in dangerous behaviour and engaging in threatening or abusive behaviour.
He was given a fine of €750 in an Irish court yesterday (October 12).
As part of his sentence, Moore was also placed under the supervision of probation services until March of next year.
In sentencing, Judge Durcan branded Moore’s behaviour “absolutely appalling”.
Moore’s solicitor, John Casey said his client wanted to apologise to the staff and passengers.
“Drink is the cause of anything that has gone wrong for Mr Moore and he has parted company with it,” Casey said.
