The company has introduced a new 11-night programme around northern Thailand, which can be combined with the company’s existing 13-night tour of southern Thailand.
Highlights include exploring the tea plantations at Chang Rai and visiting the 86-metre reclining Buddha (pictured) at Wat Phra That Suthon Mongkhon Khiri temple.
Stuart Douglass-Lee, head of product long haul, said: “In the past year, we have discovered that our clients are responding to longer tours. People seem to like the concept of going to a country once and seeing everything that is key to be seen.”
Prices lead in for the 11-night tour from £1,849pp and from £2,648pp for the combined 23-night package. It includes return flights, accommodation, most meals and a door-to-door chauffeur service.
The operator is also offering a 17-night “Trail Across The Andes” itinerary, which travels from Peru to Bolivia and then across the saltpans into Chile.
First Andean tour
It is the company’s first tour across the Andes and is hoped to be an adventure for clients.
Douglass-Lee said: “For a company like ours, which is often perceived as not very adventurous because our clients are 50 plus, it is really quite an exciting programme.”
Another addition to the programme is the 15-night Dominican Discovery tour. Douglass-Lee claimed the “original” tour meant that Saga was the only UK operator to be offering a tour of the Dominican Republic. The new brochure launches as Saga releases a new free travel app, called MySaga Holiday App.
Clients can use the app to look at details of their holiday, the weather forecast and flight information, including baggage details.
It also features a holiday countdown that can be shared on Facebook and Twitter, allowing consumers to share their anticipation of the trip with friends and family.
