Peter Fankhauser, group chief executive, said the surge in fraudulent claims over the last 18 months posed a "real issue for the whole industry".
"The actions of a very small minority risk having an impact on the majority, and we need to work together to clamp down," he told reporters during a media conference call this morning (May 18).
"We [as an industry] must work together with the government."
Fankhauser revealed the operator had seen "an increase" in the number of claims reported, but refused to disclose the number of cases the company had had to deal with.
He added that Cook would not be paying out on any claims it deemed to be false as it would "not help the situation" and would "not be the right thing to do".
