As predicted, Iraq has been removed from the list of nations included on the previous seven-nation list allowing Iraqis with valid visas to enter the US.
The revised order, which features a 120-day ban on all refugees, is due to take effect on March 16.
Nationals of Iran, Libya, Syria, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen, the other six countries on the original list, will once again be subject to a 90-day travel ban.
The new order also states that refugees whose entry in the US as already been approved by the State Department will be allowed to enter, although the number of refugees allowed into America will be capped at 50,000 for the year.
The new immigration policy also lifts a blanket ban on all Syrian refugees.
Green Card holders – individuals who hold legal permanent residency in the US – from the six travel ban-countries will not be affected by the new order.
It is believed a start date for the new travel ban has been announced to help curb the chaotic scenes at many US and international airports that occurred on January 27 after the first executive order was put in place without warning, BBC News reported.
A number of travellers with valid visas who were airborne at the time of the travel ban being imposed were held by US border officials upon arriving into the country.
Trump’s previous order was blocked by a federal court after sparking widespread condemnation and protests.
