The emergency measures were introduced in November 2015 following a suicide attack on a police bus and have been extended several times.
Tunisian authorities issued a further extension yesterday (May 16) taking the state of emergency into June.
The Foreign Office (FCO) confirmed the extended state of emergency and continues to warn that terrorists are “very likely” to carry out attacks within Tunisia with security forces remaining on a high state of alert.
According to the FCO there are no direct flights between the UK to Monastir or Enfidah airports in the country, although Tunis Air does fly from the capital direct to London six times a week.
The destination has been effectively off limits to UK travellers since the June 2015 Sousse massacre during which 30 British holidaymakers were killed.
