The decision was made on Sunday by Uber’s board, although the company and Khosrowshahi are yet to make an official announcement, according to BBC News.
Khosrowshahi is expected to replace Travis Kalanick, who resigned in June following allegations of sexism and racism.
Khosrowshahi has led travel company Expedia for the last 12 years.
The 48-year-old businessman was the highest paid chief executive in the US in 2015, according to the Telegraph.
