The Public and Commercial Services union – which represents around 15,000 Border Force workers – will announce strike dates at 3pm on Wednesday (7 December), with the announcement set to be broadcast live by the BBC.
Last month, Border Force officials were among around 100,000 civil service members of the PCS union who voted by 86.2% in favour of strike action in a dispute over pay, pensions, jobs and redundancy.
The strike vote gives the PCS union a mandate to call strike action, subject to two weeks’ notice, meaning the earliest the union could stage the strikes would be from 21 December.
