Speaking in London last week at the launch of the platform, which enables the trade to book the operator’s escorted tours online for the first time, Wendy Wu told TTG: “We will be pushing out new thing after new thing for the rest of the year.”
Wu earmarked “day tours, cruise, train tickets, transfers and flights” as areas where the company will look to expand its product portfolio.
Using the new site, which was developed in-house, agents can book group tours 24 hours a day “in less than two minutes”.
They can also find latest prices, tour information and campaigns, as well as manage their “Bambu” points – the company’s agent reward scheme – and view individual commissions for each tour at the point of sale.
Wu added that she hoped the platform would help “increase productivity and make life easier” for agents and is aiming for up to a fifth of the operator’s UK business to be booked through the site by the end of December.
“I’m hoping that by the end of this year, which is still a very short time, we will do 10-20% of bookings online, which at the moment is zero.”
Joe Karbo, group chief executive, said he wanted to see “as many agents as possible” using the new site, but stressed the operator would still support agents via its call centre and on the road sales team.
