The 23rd World Routes Development Forum will take place from September 23-26 in the city.

In a message posted on Routes Online and emailed out, Routes brand director Steven Small said: “I write to clarify that World Routes 2017 will continue as planned and also assure you that safety is our highest priority for the event.

“We are working with our partners in Catalonia to ensure that the event’s security is robust and to the highest standards.

“You can expect to see extra measures in place, including an increased precautionary security presence.

“The Routes team, event hosts and partners within Catalonia look forward to warmly welcoming you to their wonderful region and together we will deliver the biggest World Routes to date.”

Small added: “We look forward to bringing renewed and supportive focus to Catalonia by working to ensure this attack does not diminish the region’s impressive development plans.”
