Sabi Sabi Collection has opened Sandringham Private Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger region, transforming a former hunting reserve into a conservation-led luxury safari destination after five years of rehabilitation and rewilding.
Bordering Timbavati and Thornybush Game Reserves, Sandringham occupies a strategic position within one of Africa’s most important wildlife ecosystems. The restoration has revived natural habitats, supported wildlife recovery and created new opportunities for surrounding communities.
“Sandringham represents an exciting new chapter for Sabi Sabi Collection,” says Jacques Smit, Marketing Director. “What inspired us most was the opportunity to restore and protect an extraordinary landscape while creating a safari experience that delivers lasting value for wildlife, local communities and future generations of travellers.”
Opened in August 2026, the reserve features two luxury safari camps, N’weti Camp and Shisaka Camp, each with six suites, with Shisaka also offering two private villas. Guests seeking complete privacy can stay at Sandringham House, a four-bedroom exclusive-use villa.
Suites feature expansive decks, private infinity pools, indoor-outdoor bathrooms and elevated relaxation spaces, while a central lodge offers boma dining, a South African wine tower and wellness facilities. A private airstrip provides direct access to the reserve.
The project builds on more than 45 years of Sabi Sabi conservation and hospitality experience. Sandringham shares ecological borders with Thornybush, Timbavati and Ngala Private Game Reserves, strengthening a wildlife corridor within Greater Kruger.
The reserve’s rehabilitation has also supported local employment and conservation skills. Through partnerships including the Tracker Training Academy and Bushwise, young people from neighbouring communities have been trained for careers in wildlife tracking and guiding.
Sandringham reflects a new model for luxury travel, placing conservation, community and meaningful connection to nature at the heart of the guest experience.
