It follows a successful start to trading under a new ownership structure, which took effect earlier this year.

Dee Travel's shop in Shotton was officially opened in early January, owned by just one family after Jeff Ford-Foyne’s parents joined the business as directors alongside him and his wife Steffannie.

The change in leadership followed the resignation of the agency’s previous directors last summer, which resulted in Geoffrey Foy and Carol Foy investing in the agency business.

Ford-Foyne told TTG the agency has been really busy since opening, with the last three weeks in particular seeing soaring sales. “We’ve been contending with some roadworks disrupting things, but it’s going well,” he said.

“A lot of people have been making last-minute bookings – one family came in yesterday [a Thursday], wanting to book for Saturday!”

Ford-Foyne said amid the bustling sales, the agency wanted to help as many people in the community as possible, but had received feedback that lots of customers couldn’t make it into the shop until after 5pm due to work commitments.

Dee Travel posted proposals to extend their hours in some way on its Facebook page, which was met positively by customers.

The team are now discussing how this might look. One idea is opening one night a week until 9pm; another is offering home appointments for those who struggle to get out of the house in the evening, including parents of young children.

Ford-Foyne added the company was planning to host a “big party” for customers this coming January to mark the shop’s first anniversary.
