The adult-only line would generally operate up to two cruises with no age restrictions in previous itinerary programmes.
However, in its new 2027/28 programme, featuring 75 sailings and 131 ports – 10 of which are new, children will not be allowed onboard.
The no-fly programme runs from 24 March 2027 to 14 April 2028 and includes destinations ranging from the British Isles to the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and the Americas. Sailings are aimed at the over-50s market.
The line said: “We regularly canvas guests for their feedback on the service we provide, the itineraries we offer and the type of cruises they enjoy the most, using Customer Service Questionnaires (CSQs) to ensure that our offering evolves in line with their needs and expectations.
“We can confirm that the new season will be the first where every itinerary will be adult-only, allowing us to maintain a calm, adult-focused community at sea across all our sailings, even during school holidays.”
Speaking to TTG ahead of the programme’s launch on Thursday (26 June), head of trade Karen Cameron said: “We’ve been listening to what our customers have been telling us and we can confirm that for 2027/28 we’re going to be adults-only.
“There were definitely multi-generational bookings previously – they were a successful market for us. It’s a change but not a huge one.”
Ambassador chief executive Christian Verhounig confirmed last year the line is looking for additional tonnage.
And earlier this year, Ambassador announced it had merged with Compagnie Francaise de Croisieres (CFC) to create a three-ship fleet with the addition of Renaissance.
Cameron suggested Ambassador may review its decision not to offer multi-generational sailings when the fleet expands further.
“We do not know what is going to happen,” said Cameron. “We’ve got ambitious growth plans. Nothing ever stays the same.”
The adults-only sailings depart from Tilbury, Newcastle, Dundee, Liverpool, Belfast, Bristol Royal Portbury and Portsmouth.
Ambassador will not offer cruises departing from Falmouth in its new programme. When asked why the line had chosen to drop the port, Cameron said: “Bristol Royal Portbury does really well for us.
“We made the decision that our [south west-based] customers can travel to Bristol. It’s such a key hub. We’ve also got Portsmouth.”
The three-night Short Escape to Charming Honfleur voyage, departing from Bristol Royal Portbury on 18 November 2027, leads in from £279 per person.
Prices for the 44-night Tropical Treasures: Mayan Ruins & Island Adventures sailing on Ambience, departing from Tilbury on 6 January 2028, start from £4,509 per person.
While the 15-night Norway’s Land of the Northern Lights on Ambition, departing from Tilbury on 10 March 2028, is priced from £1,539 per person. Ports of call include Alesund, Trondheim and Tromso.
On trade bookings, Cameron added: “Trade bookings are continually growing. Our trade relationships have been our biggest success story. We’re always looking for new trade partners because trade is our biggest sales channel.”
