The line is looking to expand after securing an investment of $28 million from private equity group Bison Capital in November 2018.
Aqua Expeditions has announced the purchase of a long-range “explorer” yacht, which is currently being refurbished and will start operating coastal cruises in November 2019.
Francesco Galli Zugaro, Aqua’s chief executive and majority shareholder, said: “Even as we grow, as an owner I remain deeply involved in every aspect of the new vessels from the design details to the itineraries – the same way we started out in 2007.
“As with all Aqua Expeditions vessels, we will be partnering with a renowned designer and also a critically acclaimed chef to deliver a world-class dining experience.”
The new ship will serve three destinations and offer year-round departures. Details about the vessel’s name, destinations and itineraries will be announced on May 8.
Galli Zugaro added that Aqua also plans to increase its river cruising capacity as demand for this type of holiday is expected to continue growing around the world.
