British Airways will introduce a daily year-round service between London Heathrow and Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) from October 2026, extending its existing daily summer schedule.
The enhanced service will provide year-round daily connectivity between the UK and Maryland for the first time, making it easier for British travellers to visit the US state throughout the year.
The expanded service comes as the Maryland Office of Tourism, Visit Baltimore, Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County and Visit Frederick launch a new destination marketing partnership aimed at raising Maryland's profile in key international markets, including the UK.
The additional British Airways service will provide easier access for UK travellers and greater flexibility for media and familiarisation trips.
Cassandra Vanhooser, managing director for the Maryland Office of Tourism, said: “Gone are the days when travellers treated Maryland as a secondary stop. Well-priced fares, increased frequency, and a growing list of compelling reasons to visit mean consumers are now choosing BWI as their primary arrival point, with nearby cities such as Washington, DC, Philadelphia, and New York becoming easy day trips by train. Maryland’s landscapes, communities, and character now lead the experience with the outstanding tourism product and increased flight capacity.”
The partnership between the Maryland Office of Tourism, Visit Baltimore, Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County and Visit Frederick aims to increase awareness of the destination by promoting the state's attractions and experiences in international markets.
British Airways' non-stop Heathrow-Baltimore service takes approximately seven hours and 45 minutes. Return fares start from £524, including taxes, fees and carrier charges.
Maryland is promoting its winter tourism offering, including the Chesapeake Bay Crab and Oyster Trail, cultural attractions in Baltimore, historic Annapolis, Frederick and a range of new exhibitions and visitor experiences across the state.
