EasyJet will operate the route twice-a-week on Mondays and Fridays. The route will take off on 4 January 2027.
EasyJet is also launching a twice-weekly Lyon service from Southend. It will operate the route on Thursdays and Sundays starting 3 December 2026.
Both new routes went on sale on Thursday (25 June), leading in from £20.99. EasyJet holidays packages will be available to both destinations.
Together, they boost Southend's year-round route network to more than 30.
Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, said the Sharm route would boost Southend's winter sun options, while the Lyon route would open up the ski market.
Nigel Mayes, Southend's Business Development Director, said the addition of Lyon brought another winter city break option to the airport.
On Sharm, he added: "For those customers wanting to grab some winter sun and all that Sharm El Sheikh has to offer, they need to ‘Walk like an Egyptian’ to their local travel agent and get their holiday booked from London Southend."
