On the BBC show Oakley and Blythen travelled through eight countries from Italy to Mongolia without the aid of phones, internet or air travel but they struggled to make it to the Essex commuter town on Thursday (4 June) due to tube strikes.
However, even though the pair, who are in-laws, arrived 30 minutes late for the event they received a warm welcome.
And despite the evening being originally scheduled as a 30-minute "In Conversation" session, the 30 guests in the room asked Oakley and Blythen questions for more than an hour.
Guests were eager to hear more about the duo's adventures, travel highs and lows, personal stories and lessons learned from one of TV's most demanding travel challenges.
Darren Shea, Winged Boots' Head of Brand and Partnerships, said: "The plan was for a short conversation, but the audience simply didn't want it to end.
"Mark and Margo were incredibly open, funny and honest, and the stories they shared captivated everyone in the room.
"It was a fantastic evening and a brilliant example of bringing together our love of travel with memorable experiences for our clients and local community."
Given the event took place last Thursday Shea said Winged Boots had not received any enquiries yet. However, he said: "Our intention is to get people through the door. We're trying to inspire them with our events programme.
"The travel lounge has only been open since September. We're still bedding down and trying to do a lot of activations in the area."
Shea said the event is part of Winged Boots' ongoing programme of exclusive experiences, partnerships and community-led events "designed to inspire travellers beyond the holiday itself".
"We had such a wonderful evening with Winged Boots," said Oakley. "The audience were incredibly engaged and curious about our journey, and it was lovely to spend time with people who genuinely love travel.
"Since Race Across the World, we've discovered how much we enjoy speaking at events like this and working with travel brands that help people create memorable experiences. We'd love to do more collaborations in the future and this event showed just how powerful those conversations can be."
